Frequently Asked Questions
Puppies and kittens can usually begin gentle grooming once they are fully vaccinated and cleared by your veterinarian. We recommend waiting a few days after vaccination before a bath. Early, positive grooming visits help young pets build confidence.
We use high‑quality, pet‑safe shampoos and conditioners chosen for different coat and skin types. Sensitive or medicated shampoos can be used on request, or you may bring a product prescribed by your vet.
For best results we strongly recommend including a wash. Clean, dried and blown‑out coats are much easier to groom evenly and safely. If you request no bath, we cannot guarantee the same finish and the price generally remains the same because the grooming time is similar.
Groom times vary depending on size, coat condition and temperament. At drop‑off we will give you an approximate pick‑up time. This may change if we need to work more slowly for nervous, elderly or matted pets.
We generally do not recommend shaving double‑coated breeds (such as Pomeranians, Spitz‑type breeds, Corgis and Samoyeds) as this can damage the coat, affect temperature regulation and sometimes lead to patchy regrowth or skin issues. Instead, we suggest thorough de‑shedding and a tidy trim. In special cases we will discuss the risks and benefits with you.
Please let us know in advance if your pet has had previous bad experiences or is fearful of grooming. We can book extra time, use quieter equipment and work slowly with lots of breaks. If your pet becomes extremely distressed, we may pause or stop the groom and talk about alternative options such as desensitisation sessions or vet‑supervised sedation grooming.
Yes, we groom many senior pets. Our focus is always on comfort and hygiene rather than elaborate styling. Older pets may need shorter sessions, extra breaks or simplified trims. Please tell us about any medical conditions, medications or mobility issues before the appointment.
